Statement

Since I remember the drawing has always attracted me, first copying books like everyone else, and then forms and photos. In my early days I have always tried to draw with what I had at hand. I liked transforming what we have at hand into totally different things through a creativity process that has excited me while doing it. It is the process of creating what attracts me in art and what makes me have been sporadically doing so far. Almost self-taught I have been developing the way to express myself through drawings and paintings, However, everything related to art has always fascinated me because of the same attraction of what man can do with his hands and realize what he sees or thinks, just like a writer in his books. Although my training is as an industrial designer I am a lover of the design of organic shapes, curves, abstract, geometric natural patterns, and the wild beauty of nature. I have always liked the portrait, to capture the character of the person, more than his perfection. I'm not an illustrator, I don't think an illustrator is a painter. I especially like acrylics to paint with an impressionist style because of the ease of the brushstroke and the interpretation with a personal touch of the colors. Reality is always subjectively interpreted by the painter. Although I started with acrylics on the year 1998, in recent years I have started painting with oils and mixed collage techniques. I use materials that I find or rather the materials find me and tell me to use them in my works. It is a constant dialogue between matter, spirit and mind. Sometimes brushes and paint are magically deposited on the canvas forming something that even I didn't know beforehand. I consider painting as a mixture of craftsmanship and creativity. The one does not work without the other. Also adding a touch of wandering, why not? Or what if? I am attracted to both figurative art and cubism, and the geometric abstract, its naturalness, its simplicity and at the same time its broad meaning. Some of my works are of neo-cubism style, where the depth can be mixed with the flat, the geometries with the organic, the bright colors with the broken ones. I don't have a style that can totally define me; I like to say that I have good ideas. My creation process can be spontaneous or also the result of a study with previous sketches and modifications and rethinking that lead me to a final solution. When I finish a painting or think that I finish it, it's because I finish it for myself. The viewer may feel like the unfinished or flawed work. Well, I must say that the finished work is even with its defects. Therefore it can be said that the artist, rather than finishing a work, abandons it. But in the end, contemplating it as a whole is perceived as finished.
